Absolute Beginner Course

Absolute Beginner Course
This 4 week course will introduce you to the very early start of learning long form improv! Absolutely zero experience is required to take this class!
Using collaborative games and exercises, participants will learn how to listen better, improve memory skills, speak confidently and from the heart, and how to have better conversations. This class will show each participant how you can take these games and skills and connect them to every day life.
Improvisational theater has been known to foster improved mental health through collaborative games and listening skills and the building of community and camaraderie through laughter. Come be a part of our community!
No improv or theater experience necessary! All adults are welcome!

Improv for Older Adults (Ages 60+)
Discover the joy of play, laughter, and connection in this welcoming, six-week in-person program tailored specifically for older adults. This unique, 90-minute non-performance class focuses entirely on fun improv games and gentle exercises designed to stimulate the mind, reduce stress, and spark your creativity. It is a supportive, low-pressure space to meet great people and share laughs, with absolutely no comedy or acting experience required.
The program is fully accessible, offering limited physicality with maximum accommodations so everyone can participate comfortably. Come exactly as you are, play at your own comfort level, and enjoy the wellness benefits of applied improvisation without the pressure of a public performance!

Improv Essentials: Finding the Funny
During this course, we will explore different ways improvisers can generate, identify, and explore the things in scenes which make us really laugh. Each week will have a different theme - for example: irony, absurdity, mapping, and heightening. By the end of our exploration, we will start to apply all of the skills we have learned to create a longform piece!
This course is for improvisers who have taken at least one improv class before, whether at FoHi or other theaters, or who have some background in improv in their school days.
Prerequisite: Beginner Performance Course or equivalent

Musical Improv: Your World
During this course, you will work on fun tableaus, stage picture and world development! It will cover supplemental character choices and object work! Our improv needs to happen SOMEWHERE and our musicals should be grounded in strong settings with choreography, strong stage presence and pictures.
You will review all song structures so that you can confidently improvise verses and choruses!
It’s never been more fun being a part of the ensemble!! Come on out to dance, sing and create a fresh new musical every single week!! There will be a showcase at the end of this course so you can dazzle your family and friends with your Musical Improv talents!!
