Body Language: A 2 Week Workshop on Improvised Movement & Communication

Everybody has a…..body! We forget that our body language can communicate so many things! This two week workshop will connect you to how you move and will focus on how movement can aid communication and emotion in improv.

Using fun and approachable improv exercises, Damien will help you realize the power you have in moving your body to enable strong choices.

No improv, theater, or writing experience necessary! All adults are welcome!

Sketch Comedy Writing Class!

Ready to take your comedy ideas from funny thoughts to full sketches? This 8-week sketch comedy writing class is for anyone who wants to explore their creativity, sharpen their sense of humor, and have fun writing. Students will learn how to generate strong premises, build characters, master joke structure, and write scenes that land big laughs. With games, writing drills, brief weekly homework assignments, and collaborative exercises, you will leave with a toolbox of comedic techniques and original sketches. In the final week you will see your work come to life with a live showcase.

No improv, theater, or writing experience necessary! All adults are welcome!

Beginner Course

This class is a 8 week introduction to the world of long form improv! Absolutely zero experience is required to take this class!

Using collaborative games and exercises you will be introduced to the beginning skills of long form improv and learn your very first long form (The Armando)! Participants will learn how to listen better, improve memory skills, speak confidently and from the heart, and how to have better conversations. This class will show each participant how you can take these games and skills and connect them to every day life. Improvisational theater has been known to foster improved mental health through collaborative games and listening skills and the building of community and camaraderie through laughter.

Your last class will be a showcase that you can invite family and friends to!

No improv or theater experience necessary! All adults are welcome!

Intermediate Performance: Gameplay!

This course is designed for folks who have taken Beginner Improv and now want to string scenes together to create a more complex longform set! This class will help you figure out what the “game of a scene” is and then follow patterns and characters throughout a whole set.

This class will cover sweep edits, walk-ons, tag-outs, group games, environment work and how to nail strong initiations! At the end of the class, you will perform in our Fall Showcase for family and friends!

Improv Essentials: Form Curious

This Advanced Class is designed for folks who are considering applying to our Unisphere Performance Program or folks who are curious about different long forms and how to create more improv magic!

Tracey will pick 4 different distinct styles of long form to address during the course of the 8 weeks. You will learn how to weave narrative stories and remain in the same setting. You will learn how to make strong character choices which will inform your relationships and choices for a whole set. You will learn how to chase game, no matter what the form is. Tracey will not only teach various forms, but will also teach a ton of the bells and whistles that come with more Advanced Playing.

At the end of the 8 weeks, you will get to collectively choose which form to present at our Fall Showcase.

Prerequisite: Beginner Performance and Intermediate Performance (previous experience from another program is also counted, just email us!)
